Cowes Radio 2018

The much-loved station is raring to go and polishing microphones ready for it's 33rd continuous year of operation at Cowes Week, the World's premier regatta. This year will see the return of the other half of the original pair who set up the station back in the '80's, Steve Ancsell, the 'Godfather' of Cowes Radio who'll take over the reins of the famous blue rib! He relishes the task for 2018... though is looking for daily guest pundits to come and have a stab and commentating too!

Cowes Radio provides live, continuous on the water commentary of sailing, giving minute-by-minute information to competitors, spectators and regatta followers, live from our fully instrumented commentary boat, and direct from our race experienced commentators on water and ashore on the starting platform of the Royal Yacht Squadron.

Cowes Radio, the UK's longest running special event station, commands a large and highly responsive audience both online around the world and on FM radio. For competing yachtsmen the station provides essential news and race information such as official broadcast of the race courses from the platform of the Royal Yacht Squadron, tide times, winds, race results, dedicated weather forecasts from a marine meteorologist and essential regatta information.

A hugely experienced team of broadcasters bring you live commentary and interviews with celebrities, skippers, crews and organisers, winners and losers, race results and up-to the minute comment from the people who matter. We also broadcast competitions, fun and games, plus a social guide. Cowes Radio is a really useful way of finding out what's going on with the up-to the minute daily guide to 'what's on' and 'who's doing what.' We also stream live online and are listened to all over the World on the Internet. This year we will again be the sound of the Cowes Live! TV feed of all the racing starts that follow our commentaries.
